FALL / WINTER 23

The Autumn-Winter 2023 collection is presented in a stunning residential building that shines a light on the Scandinavian way of life. Built in 2006 in Nordvest, a former industrial district in Copenhagen, the Bispebjerg Bakke estate was conceived to merge modern architecture with art and traditional craftsmanship. Designed by Danish artist-sculptor Bjørn Nørgaardn born and raised in Nordvest, the eye-catching building features slanting walls mirroring the landscape and unique interior spaces bathed in natural light.

ÉPICE archives

Our design team sought inspiration from the Epice archives in Copenhagen, revisiting iconic pieces and traditional Indian crafts techniques that give Epice creations an unmistakable organic style. The history of Epice collections rooted in Danish design and impeccable craftsmanship has sealed long lasting relationships with many Indian master craftsmen in India over the past two decades.

RETOUR AUX SOURCES

Checks, Polka Dots, Flowers, Small Patterns, were reworked in a back-to-basics with a fresh twist approach. Natural fibers, wool, silk and cashmere bring raw or sophisticated looks. Fine, airy, thick, plain or textured weaves were designed to add depth to our exclusive patterns woven with dyed yarns, or screen printed on plain fabric. Bold color combinations hand-picked from the 120 colors created for the season, bring a strong vibe to this winter collection.

FLOWERS

Zinnia, Aster and Black-eyed Susan flowers were photographed in the gardens of our designers in Copenhagen. Digital images of blooming flowers were tweaked to produce stylized, expressive floral patterns for the winter season. Various weave structures add depth and style to the printed patterns. Rich color combinations may require up to ten screens, one per color.

DOTS

The revamped hand-drawn Polka Dots channel the discreet charm of imperfection. Iconic and timeless patterns of the house, facetious, irregular Polka Dots recombined at will, are playful nods to the early designs that forged the history of Epice.

CHECKS

Iconic Checks return with more daring color combinations, heightened with knotting or wrapping styles. The patterns of the multi-Check stoles were loosely based on Indian traditional cotton cloths revered by our Danish team. Woven with dyed Merino wool yarn, boiled to add a raw look to selected pieces, the new multi-Check stoles come in a range of luminous colors and color-blocking style.

UNIS

Our classic, timeless Solids are renewed in seasonal colorways. The natural fibers, wool and cashmere, are soft and lightweight. The attention to detail emphasizes delicate Jacquard or simple borders, adjusted to the solid colors.

The double-sided printed silk satin headband has two different, contrasting sides. With its play of colours and patterns, this versatile accessory is both chic and playful. The natural brilliance of the silk fibre gives these models vibrant colours, made in Lyon, the historic city of silk.

For this new summer opus, Epice revisits its emblematic themes, Tiles, Flowers, Danish Herbarium and Small Patterns inspired by Indian Mehndis. Traditional manual know-how is given pride of place. The fine and airy weaves with a very soft touch are made by our master weavers. Natural fibres, cotton, linen and silk, with a matte or naturally shiny appearance, are woven to reveal the originality of the designs and the vibrancy of our exclusive colours. The patterns printed in artisanal screen printing sometimes evoke the very meticulous technique of block-printing. Finally, the Jacquard woven borders and the hand-rolled hems affirm this innate taste for refinement that permeates the timeless elegance of our creations.
